The press has taken an unnatural interest in the tax life of Joe the Plumber, who had the nerve to ask a mildly unfriendly question to a presidential candidate. The Tax Prof and Kay Bell have the creepy details.
I'm with Side Notes on this:
Leave the plumber guy alone already. He is a conservative who asked Obama a question. He didn't ask McCain to be poster child for the Republican campaign. Yes, he's pro-McCain. No, the Q&A with Obama wasn't going to get him to change his mind. Yes, some of his ideas are really bad ones; he isn't a foreign policy or tax expert, he's just a guy. But he has the right to ask legitimate policy questions and debate his viewpoints with the candidate.
Would that they dig into the candidates' pasts like this. I mean, besides Sarah Palin, who they have dissected pretty thoroughly.

Sounds qualified to replace Sarah Palin should the need arise. And have you never seen Fox News or heard wing-nut talk radio? You must have missed the digging (and scaremongering/fabricating) they're doing in to Obama.

First, Obama is a candidate. The candidate by definition should be under more scrutiny than Joe the Plumber.
But think about it - you are implying that Bloomberg and A.P., and other mainstream outlets looking into Joe the Plumber, are the same as "wing-nut talk radio," just on the other side. I hope it's not come to that, but maybe it has.

He asked an unfriendly question of the wrong presidential candidate. Had he asked McCain a similarly unfriendly question the main stream media would have already selected the marble slab from which his statue would be sculpted.
It's a vast left-wing conspiracy, don't ya know?
